Frequently Asked Questions and Benefits
Q. Why should I choose Into the Outdoor LLC for my landscape design?
A. Benefits include degreed and certified design and plant expertise since 1993, fair and competitive pricing, and the , option to implement your design in stages yourself or as you are able to and thereby saving more money. The difference in using a landscape designer and doing your own design is like using an experienced cosmetologist to cut your hair versus cutting it yourself. The difference in using a designer versus using a landscape architect may come down to affordability. Remember an amateur built the ark and a professional built the Titanic.
Although I have 2 years schooling in landscape architecture, my degree is in ornamental horticulture. I offer the best of both worlds without the high price tag. You may wonder how some full service companies can offer “free landscape designs when you buy their plants and materials and planting services.” Truth be known nothing is free- the cost is added in to the other services. You may be forced to buy bigger more expensive plants and materials than you really need. They may even design according to what they wish to sell you instead of what you really want.
My goal is to give you the best most knowledgable design service for a fair price dedicating enough time and attention to do a well thought out plan that is to your liking. I take the time to understand your wishes and needs for your project and offer my expertise to make it happen. I know beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and respect the fact that your idea of what is beautiful and pleasing may differ from my personal opinion. I am not here to place my wishes and ideas on you but rather understand and realize your unique design wishes.
Q. What are the benefits of a well–planned landscape design?
A. A well-planned landscape can increase a home’s value by up to 20%. For a home valued at 100,000 dollars that adds 20,000 dollars to the value of the home. You will enjoy and maximize use of your landscape. You can plan to save water and cooling and heating bills. You may increase your home’s living areas by creating outdoor rooms to go into and enjoy. You may enjoy more time with family and friends outside. Adding curb appeal will add beauty and value to your neighborhood and perhaps inspire your neighbors to do likewise. If you are trying to sell your home a little curb appeal may make a good first impression or perhaps inspire interest or a bidding war we can only hope! If you are planning to live in your home you want your yard to reflect your idea of welcome, beauty and functionality.
Q. What is the benefit of a landscape design package instead of an initial consultation package only?
A. Time, Details, and Specifics- with a package you receive a comprehensive plan after approving and helping create ideas for the preliminary designs. An initial consultation may be all you need if you are trying to sell your home quickly. A design package is best if you plan to live there or if you wish to dramatically increase the homes value and have some time before you sell. The design packages will allow you to know exactly what plants and materials you will need, where they will go, how they will look and how much of each you will need.
Q. How long will my design package take from start to finish?
A. Initial consultation is same day and about 1 hour.
Design Package #1 takes about 3 days to 2 weeks.
Design Package #2 takes about 1 week to 3 weeks.
Design Package #3 takes about 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
Times are approximate and will depend on many factors including your wishes and coordination of our schedules. Additional revisions requested will add more time.
Q. How can I be sure I will be happy with the design?
A. I plan satisfaction into my design by coming out for three consultations including a wants and needs analysis -where we discuss your wishes and ideas and including a roughdraft, revisons and a masterplan. You will never pay for a design unless you are completely satisfied. I treat you as I wish to be treated.
Q. Am I getting a good value for my money?
A. According to Homeadvisor.com website the national average for a landscape design by a landscape designer is more than $4000.00!!! My design packages start at $800 or just $1 per square foot and include many additional drawings, consultations and research to find out just what your wants and needs for your project are. You may also choose a single initial consultation to serve your needs for only $120. My designs are high quality, but low cost. So, I believe I am giving you the best value and service possible and offering choice of packages to fit all needs and budgets.
Q. When can I start?
A. When you are ready to schedule your initial consultation just call for an appointment. I will come as soon as my schedule permits at a time that is convenient to you.
Q. Who can implement my design when the plans are finished?
A. The beauty of my landscape design service is that it may be implemented by anyone you choose. You may choose to do parts of it yourself or all of it yourself and hire a company or companies you feel good about for the rest. I do not usually like to recommend one company over another because I have no control over their pricing, quality, philosophy or customer service practices. It is entirely up to you who you wish to hire.

It is best to locate the underground utilities before the planning is started. However if you locate them after you will have to adjust accordingly.
